Website design for Izi's Apartment 197, a café-bar in Prishtina

We designed and built apartment197.com for Izi's Apartment 197, the café-bar in Pejton that calls itself café by morning, stage by night. The whole menu is text on the page, a dark pill menu unfolds as the site opens, a liquid panel carries you from page to page, and the site speaks English and Albanian.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Apartment 197 website built with?

Next.js and React in TypeScript, with Framer Motion for the motion, Lenis for the smooth scroll and next-intl for English and Albanian. Both languages are prepared ahead of time, and the photos are made ahead in three sizes, so nothing is resized on request.

How does the online menu work?

The menu is real text on the page: every dish from salads and burgers to pasta, risotto and plates from the sofra, set in rows beside photos of the food. It is built on the server, so search engines read every dish. The owner changes dishes in a small admin panel, and a saved change is on the site at once.

Why put a café menu on the website as text rather than a PDF or a photo?

Because a search engine can read text and cannot read a photo of a menu. When every dish is written on the page, the café can come up when someone searches for its name with the word menu, and the menu opens instantly on a phone. A QR code on the table can open the same page. More on digital QR menus.

What moves on the Apartment 197 site?

When the site opens, a Welcome screen in script lifts and the dark pill menu unfolds from the middle, its links rising one after another. A cream marker slides to the page you are on. Between pages, a dark panel with a rounded top rises over the screen and drips away onto the next page, and on the menu the photos drift as you scroll.

Which languages does the site speak?

English at /en and Albanian at /sq, each at its own address, with the dish names in both languages. The menu lives at /menyja in both, the Albanian word for menu.
