Google Hotels and free booking links for hotels in Kosovo
When someone searches your hotel on Google, a box appears with prices and dates. Your own price can show there for free, next to Booking and Expedia. Here is how you get in, what you need, and how it connects to your hotel website.
Google Hotels shows your hotel with prices and dates where people are already searching. Free booking links are free and send the guest straight to your own site with no commission. You need three things: an accurate Google Business Profile, a channel manager that pushes live rates, and a fast website with a booking engine.
What Google Hotels is and why it matters
Google Hotels is not a booking platform. It is a price-comparison module inside Google Search and Google Maps. When someone searches your hotel name or 'hotel in Prishtina', Google shows a box with check-in and check-out dates and a list of prices.
That list used to show only the platforms that paid. Now Google also allows free booking links: free links that send the guest straight to your own site. In Kosovo the competition is low, because many properties have not configured it yet.
Free booking links vs Hotel Ads
Both appear in the same box, but they work differently. Free booking links are free: you pay nothing when someone clicks or books. Hotel Ads are paid placements (CPC or commission per booking) that sit at the top, above the free results.
Start with free booking links, because they are free and bring direct, commission-free bookings. Hotel Ads make sense later, in busy periods or against competitors who are paying for placement.
- Free booking links: no cost, a direct booking on your site, you keep the full margin.
- Hotel Ads: paid, higher placement, you control the budget and bids.
- Both use the same price feed from your channel manager.
What an owner needs to qualify
Google needs an accurate price and availability feed that updates in real time. You cannot type prices in by hand each day: the feed comes from an integrated partner, usually your channel manager or booking engine.
Without a channel manager, free booking links have no live source for your rate. With one, when a price changes or a room sells out, Google picks up the update itself. For the systems, read what a channel manager is or the hotel booking engine guide.
- A verified Google Business Profile (name, address, 'Hotel' category, photos, hours).
- A channel manager or booking engine connected to Google as a price partner.
- A fast hotel website with a booking engine to close the reservation.
- Prices and availability that match what you push to the platforms.
Free links vs a platform listing
Both bring guests, but the economics and the ownership differ. The platform does global discovery, takes a commission and keeps the guest relationship. Free booking links send the guest straight to your site, and the data stays with you.
| OTA listing (Booking / Expedia) | Google Hotels free links | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per booking | Commission around 15-20% plus payment fees | No commission |
| Where the booking lands | On the OTA platform | On your site with a booking engine |
| Who owns the guest data | The platform | You |
| What it needs | An OTA account and policy acceptance | Google Business Profile plus a channel manager |
| Visibility | Inside the OTA marketplace | Directly in Google Search and Maps |
How we build it
When a guest clicks a free booking link, they expect to finish the reservation in seconds. If the site loads slowly or the booking path is awkward, they go back to Booking and you pay commission.
So we build hotel websites that are light and fast, with an integrated booking engine and local SEO that supports the Google profile too. For ZOE Hotel we built a fast site with a multilingual booking flow and an accurate Google Business Profile. The guest finds the hotel on Google and books direct.
